Sophia and the Fresh Prince

Remember back in the day when you were known by your first name and the first letter of your last name? Amy H. Kevin C. Chris K. Mike T. Not to be confused with Amy S, Kevin H, Chris P, or Mike B. Used to hate being a name/initial person. Why couldn't I have an unusual, even exotic, name that stood on it's own? What were those other Amy's doing sharing my name?

Be careful what you wish for.

Picture it. Sicily. 1935. Wait. That's Sophia and the Golden Girls - another post altogether. We'll try this again. It was Missouri and 1991. Boyz II Men were big and New Kids were on their way out (Sorry Buggie). It was the year of Rodney King and Jeffrey Dahmer. And I was in the 7th grade.

There I was in choir. Minding my own business. When these two guys . . . :) Ok actually it was only one guy. And now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure this particular guy missed our high school graduation because he got arrested for selling drugs to a freshman in the boy's bathroom. But enough about him, more about me.

We were singing the song "Voices that Care." Remember? The song collaboration in honor of our troops in Desert Storm. If you'll recall, Will Smith - the Fresh Prince himself - had a solo. I was bound and determined that part would be mine. No matter that I was a little white girl from the country with zero rapping abilities. I was very opinionated and quite vocal with it. I was all about equal opportunity you see. I felt the fairest course of action was to proceed with a "rap-off." Unfortunately I was of the minority opinion. This point was hammered home when the aforementioned guy stood up and said to me "Sit down Biscuithead!" I sat.

Never figured out how this label applied to me exactly. I've always felt I have a fairly normal shaped head. Will digress for just a moment to mention that I did go to school with a kid who's head, tragically, was shaped exactly like a watermelon. I'm not kidding. Despite my perceived lack of appropriateness, the nickname stuck. Like glue. Kinda missed my Amy H days after that . . .

Gigi. I'm not sure what to say. As always, your ability to find random information on the internet impresses the hell out of me. Perhaps next time you could clarify your personal opinion? Instead of leaving it to the masses for interpretation. Specifically, I'm hoping that we're leaning more towards the fourth definition and as far away from the second def as humanly possible. Be careful. I looked up "Gigi" and there is some definite ammunition there:)

Definitely leaning more towards definitions 4 and 1. After perusing the "gigi" entries, I come away with the conclusion that the good ol' UD can be a hazardous source of information, but always highly amusing.

Gigi, are we the only two people in the world? I know this is getting ridiculous, but.

Please stop reading after proposed definition #1.

Gigi: was randomly re-reading our commenting marathon and realized that the ud COULD really get us in trouble. They re-number as they update! Ooops:)
