not for the faint of heart

*Disclaimer: the following post may very well have information about me that you really could have lived your life without knowing. Just thought I'd give you a heads up!*

I am 32 years old and had never had a bikini wax.

There, I admit it. It just never seemed to me like a) a necessary evil or b) worthy of my time and money. Some additional background: I hate shaving my legs. Really, really hate it. Especially in the winter when my skin is so ridiculously dry. Clayton and I are going to Costa Rica next week and I decided a month or so ago that maybe I'd give waxing a try so I wouldn't have to worry about shaving while on our vacation. Thought that since I had already committed to a certain level of discomfort, I'd go for the whole shebang. Well. Not the whole shebang:)

Went to see Annie (my much beloved facialist) this morning to do the deed. In a lot of ways it was not nearly as bad as I had feared. Annie and I chatted pretty much the entire time about lots of random things and it worked perfectly as a distraction. Most of it honestly wasn't that painful. Not pleasant by any means. But not exactly painful either.

As she was finishing up what I thought was my bikini area, I considered myself home free. Then the fated words "now I'll start the bikini line." Um, sorry? Where the hell were you before? When I booked this appointment last month, the receptionist was very clear with me about my bikini wax options and I -with a rare certainty- chose the most modest, least invasive style.

Holy moly. Annie and I now have a completely different relationship. Wowzers.

Yeah, you read that right.

Wowzers.

Always feared that as well... tried it on my own though, but the gymnastic that goes with it in the bathroom is not my favorite thing !
I'm a new blogger and one of your new followers. I think your blog is very light-full and peppy and I like the way you write...so, thought I'd post my first comment on the first post I read on your page !

Only because I have a big mess to clean up, I am stuck on the computer, and so, for the first time, clicked the next blog tab. Your blog with the bikini wax posting came up....what a hoot!! I am not sure how Biscuit Head comes to be next after SuzeSez, but there you are. Clever... that's what you are and I would love to subscribe. Lets see if I can. susanne/aka sopha davenport

All I can say is . . . wow. Well, at least now you're ready for your trip. Who knows, you might be so happy with the results that you end up setting up a recurring bi-weekly appointment with your friend Annie. This could be a whole new thing for you. I'm just sayin, don't rule it out.

I'm 40 and never have had a bikini wax. I wish I had the need to have one. I live in a very cold state that doesn't allow for more than three maybe two months of required waxing. I guess I could try the Dells, but it seems weird to think of bikini lines with all of those little ankle biters running around. And there are certainly no warm trips in my near future. So if you don't mind, I will become a follower of yours and live vicariously through you. :)

I will just ignore the slim fast ad, which I assume, you had nothing to do with..... while I was ill, I had occasion to watch one of those housewives of...... shows. I had always thought a bikini wax was a humble little thing that left one with a semi natural look in the shape of a heart or something. Being well past the age, where anyone would wish to look closely at any part of my body, all I can say is, it will prepare you for your first baseline sigmoigdoscopy at 40. If you have not yet done so, you should. Compared to the next few weeks of grow up, it should be nothing!!! Wishing you a scratch and itch free vacation... sopha davenport
