a little help please

Ok, all. I need your help. If I wasn't a doctor, what would I be?

Not thinking of abandoning the career I've basically spent my whole life preparing for. Not exactly anyway. Just really wondering what else is out there.

So, what could you see me as? What hidden talents might I have? What part of me should I let out to shine?

Just a little experiment I'm working on. Humor me. There may be a prize in it for you:)

mmmmm....this is an interesting question. Pottery painter? Book editor? Screen writer? Food critic? Web star? Song writer? A brilliant person like you can do anything... even be a doctor. Don't worry, I see good things coming your way!

You loved being a resident. Would you like being an attending at a teaching hospital? You have great compassion. Would you enjoy going oversees to a less developed country?

Was the Dallas area maybe too big? Would you rather be in a smaller area?

I am not really giving you answers, just more questions. I am tricky that way.

I think you love medicine. I could see you being successful in whatever you wanted to do, but I'm not sure you'd be happy doing anything else. But what do I know, I'm just a hospital-employed doc trying to figure out how to weed through certain patients to get to the good ones. Maybe you need to try a different setting, like something smaller where you're treated well. Hey, I know just the place... Good luck, chica!!

Book store owner, movie critic, party/event planner, Doctors without Borders volunteer or organizer, high school math club advisor, camp director (maybe for kids with medical problems like Camp Systole), flower delivery person, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream store owner (is this selfish on my part???).

Check out this blog: http://recoveringphds.blogspot.com/2007/09/ancient-wonders-still-really-cool.html, for another option.

Go-go dancer. For real.

Or if you want to stay medical-ish, what about hospice care?

Is the prize a biscuit?.....I like biscuits!

Open your own 24 hour Starbucks. You can do that in addition to pretty much anything else you want to do, and it guarantees you free coffee.

Whatever you do, you should hire Gigi as your adviser and masseuse.

I'm watching a video clip of Meatloaf singing Hot Patootie from the Rocky Horror Picture show over and over and over on YouTube right now. You might be able to make a career out of something like that.

You can be anything you want to be my dear Amy . . . I really think being a doctor is what you were meant to be and if you aren't sure about that, then read your blog from Nov. 15th - that is why we went into medicine - to make a difference in people's lives - and you are doing that - I think you just need a new environment, a better job! Back in Missouri, perhaps? :) You are blessed with amazing intelligence and insight and patience and understanding! I hope and pray you find a job that makes you happy - that is why we put up with that wonderful place called UMKC, right?, to follow our dreams and have a happy future . . . anyway, continue to follow your heart and the future will fall into place.

I think positively opening a cool bar would be right up your alley!! Martini's, Wine, and Chocolate would be a great name!

I was going to say stripper while you have a few good years left in you......but then I saw that Katie already said go-go dancer. What about a stripper with go-go boots? Sorry, I have been working too much lately. I need another job, too.

I was thinking a stripper.....for sure, while you have a few good years left. Then I saw that Katie suggested being a go-go dancer. I would say sing karaoke in nothing but go-go boots. Maybe throw in some fishnets. I have been working too much. I need a new job, too.

I got it!!! Maybe almost a year late, but from i can see, you haven't posted a winner yet. You can be a Powerball winner/retiree, a kareoke addict, 2-step teacher, beer taster, a nanny for my kids, motivational speaker, twinkie taster/model, a JCAHO employee, professional jurer......or you can be what you do best....an amazing friend!! We wouldn't change you a bit! As long as you are happy, I caouldn;t care less.

By the way, if you don;t want to be a powerball winner/retiree, I'll take the position if it is still available.
